Re Line Your Pipes!

Over time pipes corrode creating a build up that greatly effects the pipes flow capacity as well as the quality of water.

This corrosion will result in more than just a slower flow it will cause leaks and bad tasting water. Unfortunately these old corroded pipes allow copper and lead to be absorbed into the body by either drinking, cooking, or bathing. According to the U.S. Department Of Health And Human Services lead is the number one environmental threat to childrens health. Children are being exposed to this hazard through the consumption of water from old corroded piping systems.

Pipe lining provides a protective barrier that stops the leaching of these harmful toxins. Pipe lining is a smart, safe, and affordable solution to aging pipes. Pipe lining will effectively and safely extend the life of older systems, however even newer pipes have their troubles too, the day pipes are installed and water starts to run through, it starts the corrosion process. To be sure your pipes are safe no matter how old or new contact MR ROOTER PLUMBING  602-635-3360 for a complimentary video inspection of your pipes……..mention you heard about this from our blog and receive $50 off any pipe relining.

Drain Cleaning

Popular over the counter drain products should be used with extreme caution if even used at all. Before pouring these harsh acidic chemicals down your drain please remember to only do this in an extremely well ventilated area and wear gloves and protective eye wear at all times NEVER let children or pets near these chemicals. If you have poured chemicals down your drains and were unable to solve your drain problems ALWAYS tell the plumber that you have done so, you are putting him or her at danger. These chemicals have been known to eat away at pipes and eventually the pipes will need to be completely replaced.  WAIT!! Although the safety advice is great this all sounds way to harmful!

Fortunately  Mr Rooter Plumbing has an amazing and SAFE SOLUTION to this!  Take a look at this link below and give us a call at 602-635-3360 to order yours now

Mr Rooter Phoenix Arizona Is Heating Up

Its hot here in the valley we would like to remind you to check the temperature of your water heater while we have “hot” on the mind its not just the valley sun that can burn your skin, at 140 degrees it only takes 5 seconds for water to burn skin, add just 10 degrees to that and your skin will burn in 1/2 a second.  A homes hot water system should be set no hotter than 125 degrees.

Garbage Disposal: Don’t Let Food Wreak Havoc in the Sink

Young children often huddle under the covers in their bedrooms, certain that a monster prowls in the closet or under the bed. Most parents will open the closet door or peek under the bed to remind them that the coast is clear.

But if your children accused your kitchen sink of harboring a shady presence, would you be able to deny it? Something foul may be lurking in your sink.

Your garbage disposal may start to smell when food debris builds up. It may be a lingering odor or an overpowering stench, but a good dose of cleaning can clear the air.

Place a handful of ice cubes and citrus peels – lemons, oranges or limes – in the disposal. Turn on cold water and then turn on the disposal for 15 to 30 seconds. Then turn off the disposal and continue to rinse with cold water for 15 more seconds.

If you have grease buildup, turn on hot water and then turn on the disposal. Squeeze a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid in the disposal. Run hot water for 15 to 30 seconds while the disposal is running. Finally, turn the disposal off and continue to let hot water run until the suds are gone.

Of course, the best way to ensure an odor-free kitchen is to prevent the smell before it starts. Never put bones, celery stalks and shrimp or onion peels down the garbage disposal. If you have large amounts of food to dispose of, scrape the scraps into the trash and just rinse the dishes off.

Don’t let food “reek” havoc in the sink, and your entire family will thank you!

Garbage Disposal: Pumpkin Pulp Can Spook Your Plumbing

October is a great time of year – cooler winds blow in, leaves begin to change and children start talking about what scary gremlin or magical princess they want to be for Halloween.

halloween-pumpkinBut in the midst of the Halloween festivities, if pumpkin carvers don’t properly dispose of the pumpkin pulp, they could have more than just trick-or-treaters knocking at their doors this Halloween season. They may need a plumber to come unclog their kitchen sink drains or repair their garbage disposals.

Carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns is an age-old Halloween tradition, but it can quickly turn into a plumbing nightmare for families if they put the pulp and seeds down the garbage disposal.

Instead of breaking down like most foods, the orange pulp hardens and clogs the drain.

“A pumpkin’s stringy, slimy substance is too much for the garbage disposal to handle,” said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of the Mr. Rooter Corporation. “Your thoughts should be on Halloween costumes, trick-or-treaters and giving out candy – not calling a plumber to clear your drain.”

To ensure the pumpkin carving experience – and your pipes – flow smoothly, Mr. Rooter® recommends carving your award-winning jack-o-lantern on a newspaper away from the kitchen sink. This way no unwanted scraps creep into your drain. Be sure to avoid throwing any pumpkin pulp, seeds, triangle eyes and other cut pieces into the sink or toilet. Instead, throw all pumpkin-related material and newspaper in the garbage.
